IntroductionIt is well know that to be healthy is to have balance in your life; to have spirituality and to help others. Well here is a worthy event that fulfills all these needs and saves lives! BackgroundThe International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations as an annual observance of global non-violence and cease fire. Every year, people in all parts of the world honour peace in various ways on 21 September. Over the past year, the United Nations has been involved in seeking resolution to the world's most intractable conflicts and in supporting peace once it has been achieved, through peacemaking, peacekeeping and peace building. In 2007, for example, the UN Security Council deployed a record number of peace keepers to 19 peace operations around the world. More than 100,000 blue berets and civilian staff are serving in the field to build and keep peace.A World AffairWe in Australia Take peace for granted. Oh yes we have the occasional violence here and there but ducking bullets, hiding from explosions and being targets for rockets is not normally what we have to worry about. We worry about our economy and Bank interest Rates. For some this would be heaven!
