IntroductionAround 570 CE Shaolin was burned only 90 years after it was originally built (refer to Shaolin History for full account of Shaolin from founding to today). When it was rebuild, Shaolin Monks wanted to make it more their place of living and meditation secure. Shaolin being in a area place, they concluded that they need to be able to take care of themselves. The concept of Warrior Monks was born. Imperial Guards also came to Shaolin and shared their skill in the Imperial Eagle style which was used by the Emperors protectors. But Shaolin also invited wandering warriors, poets, learned, historians, heelers and other such into their temple for information exchange. It is in this environment that Shaolin developed the 18 Hands of Lohan (which had some martial art movements in it) to the 72 Fists of Kung Fu. The Original Shaolin 72 Fists Kung FuAs they did not want to spend vast amounts of time on a violent art, the fists needed to be easy to learn, effective and in clear chunks for easy learning.
