What is a Grading Review?

A grading review is a Clayton's Grading, the Grading you do when you do not want to Grade and it only costs $19. If you would like to receive a detailed feedback for every technique, form and items in a level, you do a Grading Review (you can look at a sample by clicking on this line).

When you Grade, three steps occur;

  • You participate on the Grading, all of it and you need to include the Theory/Knowledge Component
  • Your Grading results together with your Theory/Knowledge Component is reviewed by Sijo who decides what the result mean and you are allocated one of the following marks; Fail, Redo, Conditional Pass, Pass, Credit, Distinction or High Distinction
  • At the Grading Presentation you receive your full feedback, with the evaluation by Sijo, in writing and if you passed and official Shaolin Academy Certificate of Achievement.

    If you just participate on the Level Review, you receive the feedback immediately after the Grading, without the results going on your permanent record, without Sijo reviewing them and without you being eligible for promotion or certification. What you do get is a two page detailed report on how well you did in the Grading, nothing more and nothing less.

    Who can grade?

    Shaolin Kung Fu Academy Gradings are open to everyone. Anyone can come and watch and anyone can come and grade for any level, even if they have not trained with us. We believe that you should be able to participate in the grading process when you feel they are ready. No caveats, no conditions and no obstacles. We also believe that our Grading process is of the highest quality and professionally managed along Traditional methods and Modern Principles; best of both worlds. That is why our gradings are open to any to grade and everyone to watch!

    To reduce the Grading stress and reduce chances of accidents, it may be a good idea to also prepare in the following way;;

    1. Have a complete uniform with Sash and Shoes ready at least 24 hours before the event
    2. Have water with you and if you are Grading/Re-grading have a snake for the short break in between.
    3. Have you completed and printed Grading Theory component with your Uniform.
    4. Plan to be at the Grading venue 30 minutes before grading start, at 10 minutes extra if you are car-pooling.
    5. If you had not settled the Balance of the Grading fee, bring this with you, preferably correct change.
