In 1962 Sijo was 'dragged' along to Judo training by his older brother. For the next 8 years he trained irregularly as this was a very changeable period in the family's life. Whenever the family moved a new school needed to be found and training resumed. In 1970, Sijo moved to Germany where he join Sensei Arno and started training Karate winning the European Championship and achieving his Black Sash in 1976. Another friend from this time took him to try out Aikido and Sijo remained for the next 6 years, including during his Engineering studies, achieving Black Belt in Aikido and Aido in 1982. That same year he migrated to Australia where he joined a Kung Fu Academy and trained with the three masters over the next 10 years. During this time he went a bit mad training more than just once a day when his work and further studies allowed, with different styles including Nijitsu, Baqua, Thhunder Foot and Lightning/Undulating Palms, Wing Chung, Muay Thai, and some others.
In 1992 he founded the Liang-I Shalin 5 Animal Kung Fu Academy, trained in China in 2001 and changed over to full time training and teaching in 2002. He now teaches in Mordialloc on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays (Traditional Chinese Weaponry.

Sibok Dagmar Z
Dagmar Z is Sijo's partner and wife since 1977; but this is not the reason why she is listed here. Dagmar started training in the same club as Robert when they migrated to Australia in 1982. In 1988 she switched from Kung Fu to Tai Chi and has been doing this ever since. Dagmar has always been more inclined to being a healer not a fighter picking up Meditation and Relaxation qualification along the way. Dagmar encompasses the softer parts of Shaolin 5 Animal Kung Fu by specializing and focusing on Tai Chi, Breathing, Meditation, Relaxation and Chi Development.

Sifu John has also been very instrumental to Shaolin Kung Fu Academy. With his degrees in Arts, Black Sash in 5 Animal Kung Fu, Black Belt in Karate (Ceberano Goju), Black Belt in Shaolin 170 Move Grappling. With 15 years of martial art experience, 9 of which teaching & training and with over 3000 registered classes with the Academy, Sifu John is, Aside from Sijo and Sibok, the Shaolin Academy's most experienced Instructor and thus has the title of 1st Instructor or DiSifu! Sifu John is the main instructor in our Glen Huntley/Caulfield Kwoon on Mondays and Fridays as well as our ONLY instructor for Children (ages 5y to 10y). He is very popular with all his students having a great ability in martial arts, teaching and the rare art of thinking!

Mordialloc Instructor, Sihing Anthony
Anthony is a great motivator, teacher and all around good guy. Regularly teaching the Thursday beginner and advanced class in Mordialloc, Anthony has developed a great understanding and ability in Shaolin Kung Fu. He is currently working on Both his Black Sash in Shaolin 5 Animal Kung Fu and his Black Sash in traditional Chinese Weaponry!

TCW Instructor & Black Sash, Sihing Daniel
Daniel is a full Black Sash in Traditional Chinese Weaponry and Chief Weaponry Instructor in Glen Huntley. He is a Brown Sash in 5 Animal Kung Fu and is expected to Grade for his full Black Sash in December 2011. With Daniels incredible physical skills and eyes for detail he is also the chief care-taker of the 5 lesser and 5 greater Shaolin Animal and Temple forms leading to Shaolin 5 Animal Kung Fu Black Sash.

Martyn is a great technician and teacher. He is showing a dedication to Shaolin Kung Fu that show Mastership Potential. In addition to becoming qualified a full Government Accredited Kung Fu Instructor, Martyn manages the Camberwell Venue, helps out In our Glenhuntly venue and still manages to train regularly.
