Matthew B
Jul 2000

Sifu Matthew B
Sifu Matthew B, 9th Shaolin Kung Fu Black Sash, is the person with the least registered classes at time of grading, only 200. He was allowed to grade not having the required 555 based on his excellent Brown Sash Results. Sifu Matthew passed with Credit based on his determination and extra work at home.

Matthew is a man of Stone and Steel, having surprised many visiting instructors and other seniors with his Iron Will and incredible strength. He was almost impossible to hold in Grappling and almost unassailable in Contact Sparring. Yet with all this, a husband, father of three and manager with Bosh, he is a well rounded and very professional operator. Sifu Matthew is currently experimenting with the Snake Style, Earth Aliment Animal Kung Fu

Sifu Luke B
The 10 Shaolin Kung Fu Black Sash is Sihing Luke, who has been with the club 3rd longest with The Shaolin Kung Fu and Traditional Chinese Weaponry Academy. He is a true Snake Stylist choosing only to perform when he feels that it will be near perfect. This results in Luke's performances being the best there are, World Class quality. Aside from being multiple Junior All Styles Champion, he is an accredited L1 Instructor, L2 First Aid Officer, L1 MAIA (Aust Gov) Instructor, L1 Examiner and L1 Judge and Referee.

Luke with Sifu Sarah and Sijo, was part of the Shaolin Kung Fu team that toured China with demonstrations in Beijing (Peking) and Xi'an. They also studied in Shaolin under the Shaolin Temple Chief Training Monk She Se Gung. In 2006 he plans to go on a Working & training Holiday to Europe, for a year or two, as he likes to say.

Ash Bannister
Mar 2002

Sihing Ash B
Ash is possibly the most brilliant of all and the 11th Shaolin Kung Fu Black Sash. With a very quick mind and wit. Sihing Ash was the first of the Students to join when the Kung Fu Instructor in training program started. Depending on the time that his University Degree in Archeology allows, Ash is regular student interested in all aspects of Shaolin Kung fu, 5 Animal, 72 Fist and Traditional Chinese Weaponry.

Originally from Perth, when Ash came to Melbourne he h ad a specific club in mind. When he choose The Shaolin Kung Fu and Traditional Chinese Weaponry Academy he believed this to be the best choice for him and worthy of travelling from the other side of town to Caulifield. When time allows he even travels further to our Mordialloc Venue.

Sihing Liam M
Our 12th Black Sash is an intuitive and gentle person; not to be confuse with timid. Quite a veracious competitor, Liam has a lot of time for Kung Fu and getting things right! With a great affinity for the more precise aspects of Shaolin Kung Fu, the Chinese Straight Sword has caught Liam's fancy and imagination.

Liam is also one of the early starters of the Kung fu Instructor in Training (KIiT) program and is showing all the signs of being a great teacher, leader and Shaolin Kung Fu Instructor.

James Skidmore
Sept 2002

Sihing James S
James is a powerhouse of Kung Fu! the 13th Shaolin Kung Fu Black Sash, James is a formidable sparer, incredible performer and simply fantastic in traditional Chinese Weaponry.

James is very agile, strong and 'bouncy'. He is toying with the idea of specialising in the Shaolin Panther sub animal, Monkey. He has already shown to be quite proficient in winning against seemingly vastly superior opponents by using Monkey Movements and Strategy. Once he has completed the Instructor training Course, L2 Fist Aid and NCAS accreditation, he will be a welcome addition to the Instructor ranks.

Sihing Sam S
Sam, our 14th Black Sash, has a good eye and mind for Shaolin Kung Fu. He has a good grasp of how, what is used and how best to apply it. added to his natural high intelligence, Sam will become a natural leader in life and instructor in Shaolin Kung Fu.

Sam has found that he is well suited for all the Shaolin Arts, equally wielding the Baila Spear, as the Broadsword, Sparring, 72 Fist Routines and 170 Movement grappling.

Nick M
Sept 2002

Sihing Nick M
Nick, our 15th Black Sash, is a pleasant, happy nature that belies the power and determination of his Kung Fu. With a good center of gravity and a bit of weight behind him,Nick can move both gracefully and quickly. He is able to pick up many aspects of Kung Fu and weaponry quickly and devote time and determination to those items that require it.

Currently undertaking studies, Nick is a bit of a car nut. But this seems to be his only eccentricity. He is an all around, well versed and excellent Kung Fu student who will make for a superb Shaolin Kung Fu Instructor.

He performs a brilliant Horse Chopping Sword Form!

Isabella C-F
June 2002

Sihing Isabella C-F
Ms Is is a Kung Fu Instructor in training (KIiT). She has h ad many opportunity to be the Buddy for new students (the person partnered with a person trying out a class with Shaolin Kung Fu) and become a favorite at helping new students learn their first steps.

Isa is quite self aware and wise for her age, with a great gift of intuition and instinct, art and beauty. Even at this level, Isa is experimenting with a gentler version of the Tiger in the form of an Osprey Form, developing her way of moving, defending and life management. Just having completed her HSC, she is considering a year of experimentation in life and . . others before going back to university.

Sishon Daniel B
Daniel, the clubs gentle giant, originally joined with Shaolin Kung fu for the great love he has for weaponry ; but soon took a great interest to the bare hand side of martial arts. Although he leads a quiet life, he is able to enforce the tiger spirit in situations of need. He has also taken a great interest into the two new curriculums; 72 fists and 170 movements. Hoping to improve strategic thinking with the 72 fists, and ground work with 170 movements....
