The material on this page may look simple and easy but it is not! There is a lot of skill required to learn and practice these skills. We strongly recommend that you do not attempt these unless you are part of the Shaolin Academy Cyber Program or under the guidance of a Kung Fu master!
It is said that after the fall of Shaolin around 1645 CE several warrior monks made it out alive and that is how the knowledge of Shaolin Animal Styles were kept live. An exceedingly strong fighting style is said to have developed from Shaolin origins just based on two of the Animal styles, a pure strong hard, fighting style called Hung Gar and another with influences from Hung Gar was Choy Lee Fut. There is a lot of materials around these styles as they both famously clashed with Wing Chung especially in populated areas. It is said that Bruce Lee famously lost to a Hung Gar fighter and spent 6 months in traction. But this is not a Hung Gar form, it is a Tiger and Crane form, modern version.
The symbol of the Lion is often used as a guardian in front of buildings. The Lion symbolizes courage, stability and superiority. Yet for all intents and purposes the Golden Lion form is a preparatory form for Lion Dancing. The Yellow or Golden faced lion symbolizes experience and knowledge and suggest that the style is that of superior quality and wisdom. All said and done, this form is a good combination of Movement, Directionality, Breathing and Long Fist Kung Fu.
